On 8 and 9 October 2015, Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg made its first appearance in the Arabian region. Upon invitation of H.E. Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain National Theatre hosted the Russian choreographers’ masterful adaptation of Anna Karenina. 70 members of his world famous company found themselves impressed by the Bahrain National Theatre, one of the largest and most modern venues in the Arab world. Built on an area of about 12.000 m2 overlooking the sea, it sets itself apart by its unique architectural design and cutting edge technical facilities.

On October 8, Maria Abashova starring as Anna was joined by Oleg Markov as Karenin and Oleg Gabyshev as Vronsky. Natalia Povorozniuk, Pavel Moskvito and Sergei Volobuev danced the second show. A mesmerized audience greeted the dancers with thunderous applause and standing ovations.

We would like to express our gratitude to H.E. Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa for enabling this memorable event. May this delightful experience soon be continued by follow-up projects!
